All calculators, quizzes, tables, and content on Legal by the Numbers are provided for informational and educational purposes only. Results are estimate ranges and do not constitute legal, financial, or tax advice, are not a valuation of any claim, and are not a prediction of any settlement, award, or court order. Only a court, a state agency, a child support office, or a county assessor can determine an actual amount in your matter. Each page links the official source of record — rely on that, not on us.
2. Not a law firm
legalbythenumbers.com is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Using this site does not create an attorney-client relationship. We publish the guideline formulas, statutory requirements, and filing deadlines that states and counties publish themselves, and we link the official source for every figure. For advice about your own situation, consult a lawyer licensed in your state.
3. No attorney-client or advisory relationship
Using this site does not create any attorney-client, advisor-client, fiduciary, or professional relationship of any kind between you and Cosyslabs Inc. or its contributors. We do not represent anyone, do not review documents, do not evaluate matters, and do not provide individualized advice or recommendations. For advice about your own situation, consult a lawyer licensed in your state.
4. Family-law results
Courts retain discretion — guideline results can be adjusted or deviated from. This is the published guideline math, not a prediction of your order.
5. Wills and estates
Our will pages state what each state’s probate code requires to execute a valid will, with a citation for every cell, plus a quiz that routes you to the requirements page for your state. They are reference material. They do not draft documents, do not tell you what instrument to use, and are not a substitute for an estate attorney in your state.
6. Accuracy and verification
We transcribe figures from published statutes, court rules, agency guidelines, and county notices, record their sources and verification dates, and update them when jurisdictions publish changes — but rules change, and errors are possible. We make no warranty that any figure is current, complete, or correct. Always verify against the official source linked on each page.
7. Limitation of liability
All tools and content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cosyslabs Inc., Legal by the Numbers, and their contributors shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages — including any missed deadline, any settlement or support amount, any denied or dismissed claim or appeal, or any financial loss — arising from the use of, or reliance on, any calculator, estimate, table, or content on this site. You use these tools at your own risk.
8. Intellectual property
The site’s design, code, original text, and the structure and presentation of its rule packs are the property of Cosyslabs Inc. The underlying law (statutes, guidelines, court forms, county deadlines) is public information; our transcription, annotation, and verification of it is our own work. You may not scrape, copy, or redistribute the site or its rule packs in bulk without written permission.
9. Embeds
You may embed our calculators via the /embed/<slug> URLs provided that the built-in attribution link and the disclaimer beneath it remain visible and unmodified.
10. No accounts, no fees
No account, registration, or payment is required. All tools are free to use.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Legal by the Numbers is operated by Cosyslabs Inc., Ontario, Canada.
12. Changes
We may update these terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
