Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Legal by the Numbers (legalbythenumbers.com) is operated by Cosyslabs Inc. This policy explains what little data we handle and how. The short version: what you type into a calculator stays on your device, tracking is consent-gated, we collect no phone numbers, and we never sell personal data or pass it to lawyers.

2. Calculations stay on your device

Every calculator and quiz on this site runs entirely in your browser. The figures you enter — medical bills and lost wages, each parent’s income, overnights, marriage length, assessed and market values — are never transmitted to our servers or to any third party. There is no account system, no server-side storage of inputs, and no way for us to see what you calculate. Closing the tab is enough to walk away clean.

Preferences you choose to keep (dark mode, your state, favorite tools, recent calculations) are stored only in your browser’s localStorage and can be cleared at any time from your browser settings.

3. Consent-gated analytics and ads

We use a cookie consent banner. Until you accept, no analytics or advertising scripts load. If you accept, we use:

Google Analytics 4 — pages visited and tool usage, with IP anonymization
Microsoft Clarity — aggregate session heatmaps
Google AdSense — advertising (ads never appear inside calculator panels or on this page)

Declining consent means no tracking cookies and no personalized ads.

4. We do not sell your data, and we are not a lead service

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information — ever. We do not operate attorney-referral or claim lead generation: nothing you enter into a calculator is packaged, scored, or passed to law firms, claim companies, insurers, or anyone else. No one buys your case details from us, because we never have them.

5. No phone numbers

We do not ask for, collect, or store telephone numbers anywhere on this site — not in the contact form, not in Change Alerts, not in any tool. You will never receive a call or text message because of using this site.

6. Change Alerts (double opt-in)

Our Change Alerts list is strictly double opt-in: after submitting your email you must click a confirmation link before you are subscribed. We store only your email address and confirmation status, use it only to send one email when a state revises a guideline, cap, or deadline, and every issue includes a one-click unsubscribe.

7. Contact form

If you use the contact form, we receive the name (optional), email, subject, and message you type — nothing else — and use them only to reply. The form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which may process technical signals to distinguish humans from bots per Cloudflare’s privacy policy. Please do not send us details of a legal matter; we cannot review them.

8. Third-party links

Every tool links to the official source it derives from — state legislatures and judiciaries, state child support agencies, state revenue departments, and county assessors — and we link to other sites in the Cosyslabs network. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
