Accessibility Statement

Legal numbers get looked up at bad moments — after a crash, in the middle of a separation, days before a county protest window closes. Accessibility is therefore not a checkbox here; it is part of the product. Legal by the Numbers targets WCAG 2.1 AA conformance across the site.

Plain-language mode

Legal math is buried in vocabulary — comparative negligence, income shares, per diem, self-support reserve, self-proving affidavit, ad valorem. Our pages include a plain-language mode that swaps these terms for everyday phrasing (for example, “income shares” becomes “both parents’ incomes added together, then split”), so the tools stay usable if you have never read a statute or a court worksheet. Cognitive accessibility counts too.

Known limitations

Interactive charts may have limited screen-reader support; wherever a chart appears, the same data is available as an accessible table. State requirement tables scroll horizontally on narrow screens and keep their header row addressable.
