Non-economic damages

Compensation for harm that has no invoice — pain, suffering, and loss of enjoyment of life.

Non-economic damages are what most statutory caps limit and what both published valuation methods try to put a figure on. Neither method is law. The multiplier approach and the per-diem approach are conventions repeated across consumer-legal writing, and no statute sets the numbers either uses. That is precisely why any honest estimate here is a range. The methods produce a band, not a point, and insurers value claims with internal software weighing factors no public formula can see.
